According to Jewish tradition, the highest form of tzedakah, or charity, is giving to a central campaign or community fund. The annual Federation Campaign gives the local Jewish community the opportunity to save Jewish lives and enhance and enrich Jewish communities in Central Illinois, in Israel and in countries around the world. Through special events and entertainment, the Federation brings the Central Illinois Jewish Community together to help support Jews around the world, whether it be providing hot meals to the elderly in the Former Soviet Union or offering vital assistance to Israeli victims of terrorism and war.
